Associate Justice Sheran was appointed to the Court by Governor Elmer Andersen on January 8, 1963 after Associate Justice Frank Gallagher resigned earlier that day to semi-retire from public office. Sheran was an attorney from Mankato, former F.B.I. agent, former state Representative (HD 08, 1947-1951), and DFL candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 1950. Sheran resigned on July 1, 1970 to return to private practice. Governor Harold LeVander appointed Fallon Kelly to fill the vacancy effective July 6, 1970. Kelly was an attorney from South St. Paul.
Dressel was an attorney from Minnetonka, candidate for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1958, and nominee for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1960, 1962, and 1966.
