Treasurer Bjornson was reelected to a fifth nonconsecutive term.
Hammar was a farmer from St. James and the party-endorsed candidate. He was also an agricultural economist, former professor at the Univeristy of Missouri, and DFL nominee for the 2nd CD in 1958 and 1962.
