MacKinnon was an attorney from Minneapolis, former state Representative (HD 29, 1935-1943) and U.S. Representative (CD 03, 1947-1949), and U.S. attorney for the district of Minnesota (1953-1958).
Anderson was a carpenter and millwright from Spring Lake Park. He was nominated by petition.
