Lieutenant Governor Anderson was renominated to a sixth nonsecutive term.
Nelsen was a farmer from Hutchinson and state Senator (SD 22, 1935-1951). He would later serve as Lieutenant Governor (1953) and U.S. Representative (CD 02, 1959-1974).
