Lang was a resident of Alexandria and owner of a wholesale seed and feed business. He was the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 1938.
Kayser was a resident of St. Peter, Chair of the Nicollet County Democratic Committee, and party-endorsed candidate. Kayser was the first woman to appear on a primary or general election ballot for the office of Treasurer in Minnesota history.
