Rematch. The election was subject to a recount and the Renville County canvassing board declared Thorkelson a winner by one vote. Evenson made an appeal to the district court which ruled the election resulted in a tie. The House Elections Committee ruled on nine disputed ballots, awarding three to Thorkelson, one to Evenson, and throwing out five. Thorkelson had originally been awarded a temporary seat for the 50th Legislative Session during the election dispute. On January 15, 1937 the House adopted the recommendation of the elections committee to seat Thorkelson. Evenson was a resident of Sacret Heart.
