Kelley worked in manufacturing in Northfield and was a former state Representative (HD 20, 1897-1899). C.F. Miller's name was stricken from the ballot upon petition of Democratic Rice County Committee Chairman J.P. Conglin on the grounds that the names on Miller's petition were not legally secured. C.F. Miller was a Socialist.
