Smith was an attorney from Montevideo and former Chippewa County Attorney.

Bowler was a resident of Bird Island, former state Representative (HD 34, 1878-1879), People's nominee of the 3rd CD in 1894, Democratic-People's nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 1896, Democratic nominee for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner in 1902, and Democratic nominee for the 5th CD in 1916.

Gilmore was a resident of Mabel. He had been nominated for state Treasurer by the Prohibitionists, but was switched to Lieutenant Governor in October 1898.

Halvorson was a farmer from Brooten, former state Representative (HD 40, 1887-1889), and U.S. Representative on the Farmers' Alliance-Prohibition ticket (CD 05, 1891-1893).
