Lieutenant Governor Yale was reelected to a second term.

Buell was a lawyer from Caledonia, former state Representative (HD 13, 1863-1864), and sitting state Senator (SD 13, 1866-1867, 1868, 1870-1872; SD 01, 1872-1873, 1879-1881).

Bentley was a physician and surgeon from Empire City who would later serve in the state House (HD 28, 1877-1878).
