Anoka County
Anoka County is located in east central Minnesota and was established on May 23, 1857 by the Territorial Legislature. The county was named from the Dakota word “anokatanhan” (on both sides of the river) and the Ojibwa word “onokay” (working waters). The city of Anoka is the county seat. Source: Anoka County website.
