Notes: Brooks ran for Minneapolis Board of Estimation and Taxation in 1941 and placed third out of three candidates in the primary and lost the 1943, 1945, and 1951 general elections. Brooks lost the general election for Minneapolis Treasurer in 1947 and 1949. He also lost the 1963 primary for Minneapolis Alderman (8th Ward), 1965 primary for Minneapolis Comptroller, and 1975 general election for Minneapolis Comptroller-Treasurer. He also sought GOP endorsements for other offices such as a Minneapolis Mayor.
