Notes: Armstrong worked as a booker for lumber and mill firms for nine years in the 1860s and 1870s. He was then appointed St. Anythony City Clerk and Justice of the Peace. Armstrong owned a flour mill and grocery store from 1877 to 1891 and subsequently served as Minneapolis Comptroller for two years. Armstrong was president of the Minneapolis City Council from 1877 to 1878.
