Notes: Cort survived a blast in the Pacific by swimming for five miles to get picked up by a destroyer. He was treated on the destroyer by a physician who was coincidentally a neighbor of Cort's in St. Paul (Lieutenant Milton B. Sorem). After the war, Cort worked as a stock broker and then an administrator at Kaiser Permanente in California for more than 25 years.
