Notes: | Novak was a candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner (1st District) in 1944 and 1948, Mayor of Minneapolis in 1953, 1959, and 1963, and Minneapolis Alderman (1st Ward) in 1961. Shortly after losing the 1953 campaign for mayor, Nowak was arrested for violating probation on a sentence of up to 10 years in prison for child abandonment. He had been wanted for 18 months. |
