Notes: | In July 1911, Briggs was are arrested and eventually convicted as an accessory to armed robbery. Briggs admitted aiding escaped convict Jerry McCarthy from Stillwater state prison by providing money and a suit of clothes. McCarthy was eventually killed in a duel with law enforcement along with a policeman. The Minnesota Supreme Court denied Briggs' appeal to set aside the verdict in July 1913. Briggs served the minimum sentence of nearly six years and was paroled in April 1917 provided he immediately leave the state. |
