Notes: Farrell filed a federal lawsuit following his 1956 HD 42 defeat highlighting the lack of equal population in Minnesota's districts after decades without reapportionment. Farrell's was victorious and the case was later the basis of the U.S. Supreme Court's 1962 decision in Baker vs. Carr from which the "one man, one vote" doctrine emerged.
