Notes: Barnum camed to Minnesota in 1856 and engaged in the lumber and milling business in Hastings until 1864. He was a proprietor of a hotel in Sauk Centre from 1867 to 1874 and in the furniture business there from 1874 to 1881. Barnum purchased the Sauk Centre Avalanche in 1890 and was a member of the Minnesota Editorial Association.
