Notes: Aitken settled in Minnesota in 1856 and was a horticulturalist, apple grower, and weather observer for the United States Weather Bureau. Akin served approximately three weeks in the state Senate in 1887 but an election contest by Republican A.H. Truax found Akin lost the 1886 election by one found and thus the seat.
