Notes: McGill came to Minnesota in 1861 locating in Saint Peter. McGill was a former private secretary to Governor Horace Austin. He served as state Insurance Commissioner from 1873 to 1887. McGill was U.S. Postmaster at St. Paul from 1900 until his death in 1905. McGill was the father of Republican State Representative Charles H. McGill (HD 28, 1897-1899).
